Get ready to embark on an unforgettable long weekend in the heart of Nicaragua.
→ This page contains important details about our trip and what to expect
Friend,
I’m so excited that you’re joining me for this adventure. There’s something really incredible about stepping into a place as unique as El Papagayo, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
One thing that stands out to me about this group is that I think each of us is navigating new phases of life right now. I’m turning 30, but maybe this weekend represents a change in your season of life too.
Whether you’re celebrating a change or navigating what’s next, I hope you feel that this time together is just as much for you as it is for me.
Here’s to new seasons and a big adventure.
Important Next Steps & Information
We’re headed out in just 3 weeks! Before we depart, there’s a few things you should know about our trip, and one action step I’ll need you to complete within the next few days.
Three things you should know:
01 - This page contains information about our agenda, packing suggestions, and other things you can expect from our time (all below). Please read through it.
02 - Jordy (if you haven’t met him already) is coordinating this trip on my behalf. He’s from Nicaragua, and beyond being an extraordinary friend and co-worker - he is also an unlabeled expert at handling Americans visiting his country. He’s put together the agenda for our time and will be responsible for helping coordinate our in-country details. His contact information is below - you can contact him at any time with specific questions about our plans (or just to get to know him better).
03 - I’ll be reaching out the week before our trip to touch base and make sure you feel prepared to travel and questions you have are answered.
One thing I need from you:
→ Fill out the form directly below with your personal details, travel specifics, and preferences ASAP. We’ll use this information for visas and travel coordination in-country.
Trip Details & General Schedule
What to Expect:
Lodging at El Papagayo is similar to a nicer summer camp in the US. You can expect bunks, outdoor showers, and plenty of space to sit and relax with others.
Meals are included in our stay, and you can expect food similar to what you might find throughout Latin America; chicken, rice and beans, eggs, plantains, and incredible fresh fruit - including pineapple right from the farm.
Temperatures will be hot during our stay but so will the company. We’ll be visiting Nicaragua near the end of their rainy season, so you can expect that weather will fluctuate a bit.
Essentials to Bring:
Passport and 1 color copy of your passport placed in separate locations.
Driver’s License or Picture ID
Entry Fee of $10 per person in cash (paid to the customs agent at the Managua airport)
$50/person for tour day + any spending money (cash) * Spending money is a personal choice as you may want to buy some cigars, coffee, and gifts to bring back.
Make sure you get “clean money” from the bank in the U.S. (no ink marks or rips/tears in the bills). Just tell the bank you are going to another country and need clean money. Nicaragua stores will not accept your money unless it’s in excellent condition for fraud purposes. Small bills are highly recommended.
General Packing List:
All items on essentials list
A rain jacket or a light hoodie. While it's not always necessary, the farm has a microclimate that can get a bit chilly at times, especially if it rains. We are also visiting at the end of the rainy season - it will rain.
Nicer Birthday clothes for party (Business Casual, but be aware of the tropical weather)
Sunscreen (We are close to the equator)
Travel-sized personal hygiene
Bug spray or cream (39% deet)
Towels and washcloths (We have towels here, but you are welcome to bring your own if desired.)
Prescriptions (traveler’s diarrhea) and any other personal medications you may need
Casual shoes you don’t mind being outdoors in (light hike, on a farm, etc)

Chargers for personal electronics (normal outlets)
